I'm getting around to reading all the books connected with GRRM's a song of of ice and fire. Some say this one is some say it's not. I do think its clearly loosely related to the series. This book was originally published in 1980. They year in which I happen to be born. Like Adara whom the story centers around I too am a winter child. So I might be biased in liking this book. The illustrations are beautiful. This book is supposed to be a children's story. I don't have children,or much interaction with them so I don't know what is suitable for children to read. This story is set during a war, and GRRM'S signature violence is dialed back, but it's still there. Without getting to spoilery there is a head splitting part, and a burning alive part. But like I said this was originally published in 1980, and speaking from experience parents were more open to letting their kids read/watch horrifically weird shit. I enjoyed as I do with most asoiaf related things.
